Family Photos…

Happy Monday! Long time no writes. I’m so sorry that I haven’t been as present on the blog as I once was. Turns out- being pregnant, chasing a toddler, working full time and prepping to add a 4th person to the Gow family has been quite time consuming! I’ve also been having a hard time justifying the price point of a new maternity look on a regular basis. Thank goodness for sweet girlfriends who are happy to let you borrow their maternity clothes so you have to buy even less during your pregnancy!

I’m 26 weeks today and time seems to be flying and creeping along all at the same time. We can’t wait to meet this sweet baby girl in early February! Since we will do a full family photo shoot in February once baby girl gets here- We decided to just do a mini session and have some family photos taken for our holiday card along with some 2 year portraits of Harrison. Dave isn’t too keen on family photos- they can be super stressful with a kiddo! I talked him in to doing a mini session with a photographer that lives in our neighborhood and came highly recommended by several of our friends that have children. We were so happy to work with Elise of Elise Welker Photography. She and I communicated extensively before the shoot, particularly around location and outfit choices. I hadn’t thought too much about what we were all going to wear before talking with her. I’m so glad that we came up with a plan together because the color of our outfits worked perfectly with the location (we were at Midlothian Mines Park). Funny as it sounds- I don’t have a hard time coordinating my own outfits, but when it comes to making sure three people’s outfits work well- I’m not so good! Elise was a huge help and made great suggestions so that the three of us were coordinating and matching to season/backdrop. Aside from the beautiful work that Elise produced, I can’t tell you how low stress these photos were for us. She was WONDERFUL with Harrison and he was happy and smiley the entire session. We even had a few extra minutes at the end for Elise to take some photos of just Dave and me (I can’t remember the last time that happened!). If you live in Richmond or the surrounding area, I would highly recommend Elise! Click here for a direct link to her site where you can see available packages and prices.

My New Lipstick Obsession…

Happy Thursday! Today I’m excited to share a product that I have been testing out for the last few weeks. I’m sure many of you have heard of Lipsense- long lasting lipstick that does not rub off or smudge for up to 12 hours. I have to admit- I was super skeptical when I first heard about the product- mostly because I can’t get my lipstick to last more than 30 minutes without feeling like I need to reapply- especially with darker colors. I’ve also always had an issue with dark colors coming off on my teeth which is super annoying and embarrassing! I tested out both a neutral color (Bella) and a dark red color (Fly Girl) with Lipsense. I have to say- I was really impressed- especially with the neutral color. It definitely lasted me all day! In the lip kit that you purchase, there is a hydrating gloss that helps keep the color fresh all day. I hate the feeling that my lips are sticky or dry, so this makes that feeling non existent when you are wearing Lipsense. I loved wearing the darker red color knowing that I didn’t have to worry about it being on my teeth!

If you’re thinking about purchasing a Lipsense Kit, you can get more information from @magnoliakisseswithjessica via instagram! Jessica helped get my set with the colors that I wanted to try and sent me a handy tips and tricks cards for application. She also has a facebook page that you can visit with additional resources called Magnolia Kisses with Jessica.

Pop of Leopard Print…

Happy Tuesday! Hope y’all had a wonderful weekend. Yesterday was our little man’s 2nd birthday. Where has the time gone? He’s growing so darn fast and it just keeps getting more and more fun to be his Mom. When they are newborns, you think you will need to wake up in the middle of the night forever, change diapers until the end of time, make bottles for day care for the next 18 years, and when all of that goes away, time just has a way of disappearing and you have this little self sufficient person who is growing and changing every day. Harrison has 2 big milestones coming up before baby sister arrives… we have been working on potty training- and he’s actually doing great! It’s been much easier than we thought. We are also transitioning him to a “big boy bed” so that the baby can have his crib. We haven’t started doing this yet, but we will be ordering his new furniture in the next few weeks, so I’ll keep y’all posted on how that transition works for us. He is a really great sleeper, so I’m cautiously confident it will be okay, but you never know with a 2 year old!

I love today’s look for so many reasons- first off, I love scarves. They are the perfect accessory to any outfit and can help take any outfit to the next level. This leopard print scarf is from Nordstrom and it’s less than $20 and totally worth the money. My earrings are baublebar and they are my replacement to the white tassel pinata ones that you saw me wearing all summer. I like these even better because they are super light weight and don’t even know you’re wearing them. They come in several different colors. I think I may get them in pink too so that they stand out a bit more against my hair color.

Last but not least- for all my pregnant readers- you have to pick up these Bumpstart basic tops from Pea in the Pod! They come in a 2 pack (I got black and white) and they are perfect for layering or wearing on their own. I also got them in the tank top version so that I can wear them under my cardigans. They are really reasonably priced and super comfy. I’ve linked them below, so check them out if you are in the market for maternity basics!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far- check back later this week for a fun post that I’m doing on my Lipstick routine.

Our Baby Is Two!

How is possible that our sweet Harrison turns two today?! Time has flown by. I was looking back at some of my favorite photos of Harrison for this blog post and I just can’t get over how much I found myself tearing up, especially over his newborn photos. I was looking at myself in these photos realizing how little I knew on the day these were taken. I had no idea how hard the next several weeks of the newborn stage would be, but I also had no idea just how much I would grow to love a little person that was half me and half David. My heart could explode every time he smiles at me or says “Love you Mommy!” The highlight of this past year has definitely been Harrison learning to talk. It seems like he’s coming up with new words and phrases every day and it’s so amazing to hear what he’s picked up on! We’ve also loved watching him grow attached to his Grandma and Papa and his Grandma Bonnie. It’s such a special dynamic between them and Harrison. David and I as parents would be lost without them! They have given us so much support over the last two years and we owe a lot of our sanity to all three of them.

If there was a theme for this past year for our Harrison- it would be determination. As I tell everyone, I rarely doubt Harrison will be living in our basement after college as he will never take no for an answer 🙂

Thanks for looking back on the last two years with us through this blog post! We are so excited for all that is to come and we can’t wait to see Harrison ease into his role as a big brother over the next year!

Fall Front Porch…

Happy Thursday! So many of you loved our front porch fall decor so much on instagram, that I decided to take a few more photos and share the whole set up with you! I picked up all the mums and pumpkins from our local Southern States Store. The key to Southern States is that they always have a great pumpkin selection with all different sizes and colors. I love the white and the light orange! They also have a ton of different color mums to choose from. Our wreath is from At Home Stores. If you haven’t been to an At Home store and you have one locally, it’s totally worth checking out! They have a MASSIVE selection of home decor and they always have great seasonal pieces. In fact, I’ve already picked out our new Christmas Tree from there for this year. If you love seasonal decor as much as I do, this is the place for you. You can also shop At Home online. Hope everyone has a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Flowy Fall Plaid…

Happy Tuesday! Here’s a look at what I wore over the weekend for a quick day date with hubs. I stopped by our Free People store on Saturday and fell in love with this top. It’s really light and flowy, but super soft. I had been on the hunt for a fall plaid top that was non maternity and would work with my bump. I love the sleeve detail on this top as well. I have a feeling I will be wearing a lot of free people over the next few months since a lot of their pieces have an oversize fit. I’m getting to the point now where maternity clothes are becoming my way of life. I was hoping to squeak out a few more weeks in my normal wardrobe, but I feel like I’ve officially thrown in the towel. Speaking of which- my jeans are maternity- they were on sale this weekend for $35! I was wanting a lighter distressed pair that can replace my distressed jean shorts that I have been living in. These are so soft and comfy! If you’re expecting, these jeans are totally worth the price tag.

Hope you all have a wonderful week! Check back for Thursday’s post- I’ll be sharing more photos of our front porch all decorated for fall!
