Pretty Little Ruffle Tee…

I have been on the hunt lately for black and white staple tops. I’m finding lately that my closet is full of trendy statement tops, but I’ve yet to shop for the classics- basic black and white tees. Today I’m wearing this classic “Megan” black tee by Rachel Parcell. I love the the tee is basic, yet has the trendy ruffle detail on the sleeve. It adds just that little bit of flare to any outfit. I’m excited to wear this tee with some of my pencil skirts for work and also with shorts this summer. It will pair with anything, which makes it wearable over and over again. You can’t beat that! It also comes in white (linked below). This top sold out really fast and it had been re-stocked in a few sizes. I’m wearing a Medium for reference. Unfortunately, I just checked and it’s out of stock again. The white color is still available. I should probably be wearing a small, but that size was actually sold out, so I figured I’d try the medium. I tied it up on the side for a more snug fit.

Also- the pair of white distressed jeans that I’m wearing are on repeat this summer. I love the distressed look and the high waist. Plus the price point is very reasonable!

On a side note- I cannot believe we are already nearing the end of June. This month has absolutely flown by! We are getting ready to head to my parents house in upstate NY for a week over the 4th of July. We are so excited to get a little time away and enjoy time with our families! What are everyone’s plans for the 4th?

Red Maxi Skirt

Happy Monday! How was everyone’s weekend? We had so much fun on Father’s Day yesterday. So cute to watch Harrison give David his gift. For those of you that know us personally, you know that I absolutely love watching David be a Dad. Since the day Harrison was born, he has been completely smitten with our little dude. It’s hilarious because as I’m sure you’ve all noticed in photos, Harrison is a carbon copy looks wise to David. His personality is definitely a little more like mine, though. I’ll take something out of the deal, because no one ever says Harrison looks like me (except for his eyes). Anyways- shout to out David for being the best Dad ever. Harrison and I are beyond lucky to have you!

I actually wore this look for lunch out for Father’s Day. I have always loved Maxi skirts, but since I’m a little on the shorter side, I usually need to get them hemmed before I can wear them. This length is perfect for me! I’m loving all things red lately. This skirt is on super sale through Madewell, but it is final sale. I am wearing a size small for reference. I’m pairing with heels in this look, but also linked one of my favorite pairs of sandals that would go great with this skirt as well if you’re looking for a more casual look.

Hope you have a wonderful start to your week! Check back soon for a new “favorites” series that I’ll be starting in place of our home series. Can’t wait to share with you all!

My Go-to Garage Workout

Happy Thursday, all! How’s everyone’s week so far? Ours has been pretty low key. It’s been nice coming home and hanging with Harrison, not having much to do in the evenings. Today I wanted to share a workout with you all that is my go to when Dave is traveling (which is pretty often these days). I like to get this workout in early in the morning, before the rest of the house is awake and before work. With all the jumping that is involved, it’s not easy to do on a full stomach. The reason I started this workout was because I needed to be able to do something in the house when David wasn’t available to stay with Harrison. It is a great alternative to my running routine, because it really helps to tone, but gives you a great cardio burn as well. I actually found this workout on pinterest after having Harrison with the end goal being a great workout that could be done at home. So, here goes-

1.) 100 Jumping Jacks

2.) 100 situps

3.) Jump Rope for 1 minute

4.) 50 walking squats

5.) Jump Rope for 1 minute

6.) 30 pushups

7.) 25 burpees

8.) 10 twenty-five meter sprints (I have somewhat of a sloped driveway, so these are great way to end my circuit as they really get my heart rate up).

I repeat the above two times. It usually takes me around 30-35 minutes to complete, depending on the day. The hardest thing for me in this workout is the burpees. I find that when I come down on my hands, sometimes I get this straining feeling around my thumb, so I usually put down a towel for padding where my hands hit.

Also, start out slow with the above plan. It doesn’t look like much, but it really gets your heart rate up. Trying modify the number of each step or only doing the circuit once to start out if it feels like too much for your body. You’ll be able to do the full workout in no time and who knows, you might even get a little crazy go for 3 rounds 🙂

Also, sorry these pics aren’t taking in my actual garage… the ambiance isn’t quite the same as this pretty park! I also forgot my jump rope- so sorry that photo is missing from the bunch.

Our Master Bedroom…

Hey All! So this is our last home series post, am I’m really sad! One because these are so easy for me to write and two because I love thinking back about how we planned out our home and all the stories we had about how we picked out our designs and furniture. I’m ending the series with our master bedroom. We were really lucky with our bedroom furniture because we had actually purchased all of it when we were still living in our last home. It translated really well into our new space. As with other rooms in the house, my friend Deb helped me pick all of our furniture. I wanted a comfy, yet rustic and masculine feel in our bedroom. I’m actually thinking about painting the space a dark gray. What do you guys think? I’m open to suggestions on color! David is going to kill me when he reads that I am contemplating a paint color change because guess who will get to do that fun project!? 🙂

I did not link any of the mirrors or wall art as they are all from HomeGoods…one of my fave spots!

I hope you have all enjoyed getting to see a little peak into our home!

The “Everyday Dress” by Rachel Parcell

Back at Monday! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.

It’s no secret that Rach Parcell is one of my favorite bloggers of all time. I was SO excited when she came out with her own clothing line, because I knew every piece would be perfectly designed and would have beautiful classic and feminine touches. Whenever she launches a new item,  it sells out super fast, so if you love this dress, head over to her site right away, because chances are it will be gone before you know it!

This particular dress style was released in black early in the launch of Rach’s clothing line. She has since launched it in several different colors. I chose this color because I don’t have anything like it in my closet. I love the way that the caramel color pairs with white and dark brown and can be worn all through summer and fall. You know me- it’s super important that I get several wears out of the items I purchase, especially if they are over $50.00. I also linked the dress in navy blue and red- both would be perfect for the 4th of July!

As far as sizing, I am wearing this dress in a size small. I will say that if you purchase one of her skirts (the floral bloom or the classic) that I would go up one size. I also have the floral bloom skirt and I have that in a medium. It fits perfectly.

What’s so great about this dress is it’s versatility. I love that I can wear it to work, but it also works for weekend activities with flats or wedges. If you decide to purchase this dress, you won’t be disappointed! Hope you all have a wonderful start to your week.

Colorblocked…

There isn’t much to not love about this sweet little dress from Shein! First off, it’s only $20.00 and it is the perfect lightweight, versatile dress for Summer.  How cute are these pockets?! I haven’t worn color block in such a long time, and after purchasing this dress, I’m guaranteed to be adding more to my closet (although it could never replace my beloved ruffles :)). For this shoot, I paired the dress with my most favorite pair of “splurge shoes” (linked below) that I own since the color went perfectly with the dress. However, you all may have seen on my instagram that I wore this dress out to a casual double dinner date with some friends last Saturday and paired it with flat sandals instead. I love that it can be worn for work or for play. Honestly, when looking for clothes, I always aim to find something that will work for my 9-5 job AND for all things casual. I have to REALLY love something to buy it if it just works for one or the other.

I had a few questions regarding the Shein web site via instagram when I posted this look on Saturday night. This is only the second piece(the first piece was a ruffle sweater from earlier this winter) I’ve purchased from the site, however, both times I have had good experiences. I did also wash the dress (I hung it up to dry vs. using the dryer) and it came out perfect. With that being said, I will be making more purchases from the site.

Aside from that- I’m just desperately trying to work on my tan these days! It’s hard because we find ourselves at the pool usually between 10am-12pm before Harrison takes his nap, so I don’t have a ton of time to get these legs some color! Maybe it’s time to break out the self tanner 😉 I hope you all have fun plans for your weekend!
